The Board of Directors helps advise and oversee the activities of the Executive Team by providing guidance and strategic initiatives.
Lori Chen – Chairman of the Board
Lori Chen has been in financial services industry for over 13 years. She recently relocated to NY and serves as Vice President, Private Client Advisor at JPMorgan. She started her career as Financial Advisor with UBS Financial Services Inc. She spent 7 years as Financial Planner and Managing Associate with Creative Financial Group, a boutique firm focuses on estate planning and business succession planning. Her bank channel experience includes Branch Financial Advisor at PNC Bank, and Premier Relationship Advisor at HSBC Bank. She holds Series 7 & 66, and completed Certified Financial Planner curriculum. She is fluent in Mandarin, and conversant with 3 Chinese dialects.
Lori has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Marketing from DeSales University and a Master’s of Business Administration Degree in Marketing from La Salle University. Prior to relocating to New York City, she devotes tremendous amount of energy to non-profit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area. She is on the Advisory Board of the Asian American Women’s Coalition, promoting the advancement of Asian American women through leadership and mutual support. In addition, she is on the Asian advisory committee of the American Cancer Society (PA Division Southeast Region), and a member of the Community Advisory Council at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Lastly, and she co-founded Asian Mosaic Fund Giving Circle in 2010
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Lori moved to the US in 1995.
Kader Ma – Board Member
Kader Ma is the Market Executive for Capital One Bank’s Boroughs South Market.
As an advocate for Community Service, Kader participates in various non-profit Organizations, such as Flushing BID, NAAAP NY, Min Kwon Center and CAREA.
King Chung- Chief Financial Officer and Board Member
King Chung serves as the Chief Financial Officer and the Chair of the Budget Committee for the New York chapter of NAAAP. Having lived in Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, and the United States, he brings his experience working in both Corporate and Non-Profit sectors on both sides of the Pacific. Currently, he is Vice President of Strategic Planning at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, the third-largest foreign banking organization by assets in the United States. During his undergraduate years at Indiana University, King established the Japan Student Association, serving as its Founder and President. He also served as Vice President of the Japanese Student Association as an M.B.A student at Georgetown University.
Vincent Chin – Board Member
For the last six years, Vincent has been involved in NAAAP, first in Philadelphia and now in New York, in capacities of Volunteer, Operations Officer, Secretary, Executive Vice President (Philadelphia), and most recently, Board Director (New York, 2013-2014.) Professionally, he is a software engineer in the finance and trading space, working on risk analytics, algorithmic research, and platform execution. Outside of Board duties, Vincent can be most frequently found at events, running registration or logistics alongside the officers.
Richard Ang – Board member
Richard Ahn oversees risk management for NAAAPNY. He practices law as Special Counsel with Goldberg Segalla LLP in New York and New Jersey, focusing on insurance and regulatory matters as well as general litigation and corporate matters. Richard is originally from California and attended Occidental College, obtaining a dual degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs and Environmental Studies. Thereafter he graduated from Syracuse University with a J.D. from the College of Law and a Masters in International Relations from the Maxwell School with a Certificate in Security Studies.
Richard is interested in being an integral part of a growing movement to assist Asian and Pacific Islander professionals with their future growth potential and in achieving prominent roles in the business community. In turn, he believes that this will positively impact local society. In that regard, he is a member of various Asian organizations and also serves as a member of the board of the Korean American Association of Greater New York.
Jamie Lu – Board Member
Jamie is currently a Senior Manager in Technology Consulting, with over a decade of experience leading globally diverse teams. He has a BS from the University of Maryland in College Park, and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Business.
Carl Leung – Treasurer
Carl Leung, CPA, HCCP, is an Accounting Manager at a not-for-profit organization which develops and manages of affordable housing. He is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting and reporting process. Prior to joining Phipps Houses, Inc., Mr. Leung was an auditing manager at a regional accounting firm in New York, NY.
Over the years, Mr. Leung has developed a specialty in serving commercial, residential and affordable housing industries. He is specialized in different types of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions and debt restructurings. His expertise in affordable housing includes working with programs such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Section 8 mark-to-markets, and various federal and state government assisted housing projects.
Mr. Leung has been serving as Treasurer of National Association of Asian American Professional, New York (NAAAPNY) since 2013. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He currently serves on the NYSSCPA’s Real Estate Committee. Additional, he is a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP). A designation for professionals working in the affordable housing industry through Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Mr. Leung holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in accounting from University at Buffalo. He is licensed to practice public accounting in New York.
